Due to limited resources, this service is only available to clients whose provincial respite funding is currently managed by ConnectWell. Independent Respite Contractors are experienced and caring individuals that provide support within the home or in the community. This service allows families to have a break or tend to other responsibilities knowing their child/adult is in good hands. It also allows the individual to have a positive role model, and opportunities such as recreation and social interactions.
Independent Respite Contractors must meet the following requirements:
Parent Initiated Independent Respite Contractors are selected by the family to support their child/adult. They may provide support in the home or in the community. As the family chooses them, they do not have the same requirements as the Independent Respite Contractor.
