The Birth Companion Program matches pregnant women, who are in need of support with caring volunteers trained to provide emotional support during pregnancy, labor and delivery and for up to 6 weeks following the birth of the baby. This program is currently available to those living in Lanark County.
The Birth Companion program is no cost program available to women and her partner. They can be matched a trained Birth Companion as early in the pregnancy as she wishes. Any woman who feels she needs support can request a Birth Companion. Referrals are also accepted from primary care providers.
